Overview

And today we have a great opportunity for a bridge inspection engineer looking to move their career to the next level. What we seek is an experienced professional to take on inspection and construction oversight of bridges and vertical structure projects primarily located in Iowa and some bordering states.

 

A subsidiary of the consulting engineering firm Snyder & Associates, Inc., Shuck-Britson prides itself in fostering a strong team approach to projects with a particular emphasis on mentoring engineers throughout their career to ensure depth of staff and expertise.

Responsibilities

Our clients are located throughout Iowa and the adjoining states, and include both public and private entities. Assignments would involve taking a responsible role in the analysis, conceptualization, design and construction of projects involving bridges and vertical structures.

 

The successful candidate can expect to have regular interaction with clients and other consultants including architects and civil engineers.

Qualifications

 

  • 5 or more years experience in design and construction oversight of bridges and/or vertical structures with a preference for bridges
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering, Structures emphasis or Construction Engineering
  • This position requires demonstrated success in inspection and construction, preferably involving bridge construction and rennovation as well as vertical structures.
  • Proficiency using AutoCAD, Revit and similar design software is a plus
  • Must be fully proficient in the review and analysis of shop drawings, interacting effectively with construction staff, engineers and project managers.
  • Must be a proven problem solver
  • Requires strong communication and interpersonal skills as this position interacts with individuals of diverse backgrounds: non-technical clients, architects, design technicians, civil engineers, the general public, developers, administrators, municipal leaders and staff.
  • Leadership / project management skills a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to keep projects on scope, on budget and on time
  • To ensure client-focused results and superior quality work product, must demonstrate the ability to integrate individual efforts into a team approach.
  • Must show ability to learn and apply new knowledge and concepts through practical application in project assignments
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills
  • With respect to the team nature of our business, the successful candidate must possess solid interpersonal skills
