    Snyder & Associates, Inc. works closely with vested partners to generate sustainable infrastructure strategies for comprehensive transportation and traffic planning, and in response to growing client demand, we are seeking a Traffic/Transportation Planner in our headquarters office in Ankeny, IA. We are looking for an individual with 5 or more years of experience who is prepared to advance in their career.

    Responsibilities

    Completion of traffic planning studies, traffic research coordination, public engagement. Heavy interface within transportation engineer staff. The successful candidate will manage assignments in support of both public and private clients. This person also will be assigned to conduct traffic studies and assessments, including writing technical reports. Work may also include research, site visits, interviews, preparation of exhibits, technical writing, interaction with clients and collaboration with other Snyder & Associates team members. Will also be involved in securing and growing client work for the firm.

     

    Qualifications

     

    The successful candidate will possess:

     

    • Five or more years experience as a transportation planner or civil engineer with a focus on transportation planning or traffic design
    • Bachelor’s or Masters Degree in Planning or Engineering with an emphasis in Transportation
    • Licensed PE or similar credentials preferred

     

    • Registered AICP a plus

     

    • Strong client and project management skills

     

    • Manage own assignments within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables

     

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in a team environment

     

    • Experience working with a variety of staff and providing technical expertise and support

     

    • Excellent client relationship skills

     

    • Demonstrated skill interacting with regulatory agency personnel at both state and federal levels

     

    • Strong skills in interpreting state and federal regulations

     

    • Necessary strengths in analytical and problem solving capabilities, attentive to details and astute observational skills

     

    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

     

    • Demonstrated abilities in report writing, briefing notes and related documentation

     

    • Ability to effectively develop and implement technical professional presentations that reach out to variety of individuals, including non-technical audiences
