    Your Opportunity

    As an Environmental Scientist at Snyder & Associates, you’ll be challenged to fill the following role:


    • Manage environmental compliance and natural resources as they relate to water resources, transportation, and development projects.
    • Work under the direct supervision of a senior environmental scientist.
    • Perform wetland delineations, stream assessments, ecological surveys, environmental impact statements, categorical exclusions, and NEPA documentation.
    • Collection of natural resource data including research, site visits, and interviews.
    • Preparation of exhibits and technical writing for reports.
    • Direct professional communication with clients, agencies, and Snyder & Associates team members.


    • The successful candidate will possess the following key competencies and required skills:     

      • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Natural Resources, Environmental Science, or a closely related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
      • A minimum of five years of experience in a consulting role completing wetland delineations, permitting, NEPA documentation, and ecological assessments is required.
      • Prior experience conducting Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, regulated materials studies, noise analysis, and/or stormwater analysis is preferred.
      • Client relationship building skills and business development acumen.
      • Excellent written communication skills in report writing, briefing notes, and related documentation.
      • Ability to successfully create and conduct technical presentations.
      • Strong ability to understand and interpret state and federal regulations.
      • Comfortable interacting with regulatory agency personnel at both state and federal levels.
      • Experience utilizing GIS or other mapping software.
      • Ability to complete field work during all seasons and weather conditions.
      • Ability to navigate and review large parcels containing several types of natural resources.
      • Ability to lift at least 25 pounds.
      • Availability to travel throughout Iowa during day trips and occasionally overnight in the Midwest.
